History of Castledawson GAC
The History Section is snap shot at different stages in the Club's short history
and the men who made it happen. The main source for this information has been the
1996 publication. "History of ST. MALACHY'S G.A.C. Castledawson" (by John Hughes
and Donal Barton) Copies of the book are available at £10.00, just contact any of
the club officials.
Please take time to investigate the different history sections which cover the village
of Castledawson and St. Malachy's .
The Club Crest
This new club crest was initiated by Michael Hughes in 1996 and was designed by
local art student Nicola Price with the help of the members. The camogie sticks,
the ball and the goal posts are self explanatory and the stone arched bridge is
of historical significance depicting the one in Bridge Street Castledawson which
at one time was the widest single span bridge in Ireland.
