Weekly Club Notes by Owen Gribbin - 24/04/2017

We thank all our sponsors who continue to support us each year - your help is greatly appreciated. We ask all our members and friends to recognise the contribution these sponsors make towards the cost of maintaining our pitches and grounds and where possible, support them in return. Plans are now being made for the 2017 season and any new businesses who wish to purchase a pitch side advertisement should contact Brendan Keenan or Mark Chesney.

Fundraising

Lotto numbers this week were 3, 4, 18, 23. With no winner the lucky dip went to Micky Hicks and Roisin Lupari. The jackpot is now £2200.

After ten weeks, 19 are on one life and 1 on two lives in the last man standing.

Any club member attending the Gaeltacht this summer, please contact cultural officer Paul Gribbin regarding a bursary.

Football

A much changed senior side were defeated by Newbridge on Sunday by the narrowest of margins on a score line of 1-12 to 1-11. The lads battled to the very end. No one can fault lack of effort or commitment with some fantastic performances across the pitch.

The reserves suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday. With 15 men missing across the entire squad it was a credit that they were able to field. Few lads dusted off the boots to help the team out on the day and showed glimpses of their class but a younger Newbridge side won convincingly in the end.

Quick turnaround for the seniors with the next game v Steelstown on Wednesday night at home.
